Tree Preservation Workshop:
Tree Support Systems
Friday, November 6, 2026
9:00 am - 3:30 pm
Workshop Overview:
Come join us for the second year in a row at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum for another tree preservation focused workshop!
As stated in the title, this year we will be covering a tree care practice commonly referred to as tree support systems. By utilizing cabling systems, bracing, and sometimes even props tree care professionals can protect trees from branch or stem failure. When installed correctly these tree support systems alleviate mechanical stress at major attachment points in a tree that are weakened by poor structure and or decay. This risk mitigation strategy provides properties with more protection so that tree owners can continue enjoying the benefits that their trees provide. Throughout the workshop we will cover which trees are good candidates for specific systems, the considerations that lead to proper decision making with installation, and the various materials and tools used for installation.
This is an indoor/outdoor workshop, with most of the time allotted to demonstration and discussions out in the landscape. Come with your questions and be ready to learn from a great group of instructors.
